OpenDota rank distribution ↗The distribution is a dated tracked-profile sample. Practice advice is editorial.

Dota 2 Archon starts around 2,310 MMR and leads toward Legend. Its star brackets provide smaller targets within that climb. Alongside the MMR and distribution tables, this guide uses a vision example to explain how to choose between available farm and an avoidable map risk.
Dota 2 Archon starts at approximately 2,310 MMR. Its fifth star begins at approximately 2,926 MMR.
Match your rating to the Archon table, then decide whether you want to target the next star or the next medal. The figures are community estimates rather than fixed Valve promotion rules. The gap is useful for planning without assuming a guaranteed reward per game.
For example, 2,500 MMR falls in Archon 2. The estimated Archon 3 threshold is 2,618 MMR, leaving a gap of 118 MMR. This is a rating difference, not a fixed number of wins; the gains and losses in your actual matches determine your progress.

A large side-lane wave is moving toward an area without friendly vision. Several enemies are missing, and your nearest ally is occupied elsewhere. You could walk forward for the wave or take smaller, safer resources nearby. The larger reward is visible; the enemies who might defend it are not.
Take the exposed wave when the dangerous opponents appear elsewhere and you have a usable retreat route. If you cannot account for them, choose the safer resources or move with a teammate to establish vision first. Avoid standing in the same exposed area after showing your hero, because opponents now have more information about your location.
Pause before entering the dark area. Check which enemies were visible, where help could come from and whether your escape depended on a spell that was unavailable. Then identify the earlier position where you could have chosen a safer route without abandoning every available resource.
Name the enemy who can catch or disable your hero, then look for that hero before moving farther forward. Knowing several opponents are missing is less useful than understanding which missing opponent changes the safety of your next action.
Choose an area your team can use for farming, defending or approaching an objective. Bring cover when entering dangerous terrain. A ward that requires dying on the way in may not create the safe access you intended.
Clearing a wave tells opponents where you are. Before taking another wave or camp, check whether their movements or your ally positions have changed. The route that was safe before you appeared may no longer have the same escape options.
The MMR Calculator compares your current rating with a target and shows how different win-rate assumptions change the estimated climb.
Enter your current MMR, target, expected gains and losses. Compare several win rates rather than treating a recent winning streak as your permanent pace. These inputs describe a projection, not a promotion date.
The estimated entry point for Archon is 2,310 MMR. Check the star table for the rest of the bracket; these are community estimates, not guaranteed Valve promotion rules.
Legend follows Archon on the Dota 2 medal ladder. The comparison above uses the same estimated thresholds as the rest of this page.
Practice changing your next move when new information appears. Review an exposed wave or a journey into unwarded terrain, identify the enemy who threatened you and compare safer alternatives. The goal is to keep collecting useful resources while removing avoidable risks, rather than refusing to leave your base.
Yes. Archon follows Crusader and comes before Legend in the Dota 2 medal ladder. The comparison table uses the same estimated MMR thresholds as the star table, so you can compare the next star and the next medal without switching between different estimates.
