OpenDota rank distribution ↗The distribution is a dated tracked-profile sample. Practice advice is editorial.

Dota 2 Crusader begins around 1,540 MMR, above Guardian and below Archon. Check the estimated star brackets and the dated distribution to place the medal in context. The gameplay example focuses on rotations: leaving your current lane to help somewhere else.
Dota 2 Crusader starts at approximately 1,540 MMR. Its fifth star begins at approximately 2,156 MMR.
The Crusader table separates the medal into five estimated MMR ranges. Your in-game rating is the reference when choosing a target. Treat the next star as a rating goal rather than proof that a particular skill suddenly changes at its boundary.
For example, 1,700 MMR falls in Crusader 2. The estimated Crusader 3 threshold is 1,848 MMR, leaving a gap of 148 MMR. This is a rating difference, not a fixed number of wins; the gains and losses in your actual matches determine your progress.

Crusader sits above Guardian and below Archon in the Dota 2 medal ladder.
Use the next star for a smaller goal or the next medal for a broader one. Both tables use the same estimated thresholds.
| Dota 2 rank | Estimated entry MMR | Position on the ladder |

| Guardian | ~770 MMR | Previous medal |
| Crusader | ~1,540 MMR | This medal |
| Archon | ~2,310 MMR | Next medal |

An ally pings for help in another lane while a wave approaches your own tower. The enemy they want to attack is visible, but your ally is low on mana. You could teleport, walk over or stay. Each option has a travel time and gives up a different amount of pressure where you are.
Go when you can arrive before the opportunity ends and the allies there can help complete the action. If the target is already escaping or the wave at your tower needs attention, communicate that and handle the immediate problem. After a successful move, choose a nearby objective or a safe return instead of wandering without a task.
Rewatch the ping before looking at the final fight. Was the opponent still reachable when you arrived? Could your ally contribute? Then compare the wave and tower you left with the outcome you could reasonably expect, using the information available before you moved.
Choose a concrete reason to move: defend a tower, join a reachable fight or protect an ally who can still escape. A busy part of the map is not automatically a useful destination. Check what is happening before committing your travel resource.
Look beyond the number of friendly icons nearby. An ally without health, mana or the needed spell may not be ready to fight. Adjust the plan to the heroes who can act when you arrive.
If the target retreats, avoid waiting indefinitely for another opening. Look for a wave, a tower defense or a safe return to your own task. A rotation needs an ending even when the original kill opportunity disappears.
The MMR Calculator compares your current rating with a target and shows how different win-rate assumptions change the estimated climb.
Enter your current MMR, target, expected gains and losses. Compare several win rates rather than treating a recent winning streak as your permanent pace. These inputs describe a projection, not a promotion date.
The estimated entry point for Crusader is 1,540 MMR. Check the star table for the rest of the bracket; these are community estimates, not guaranteed Valve promotion rules.
Archon follows Crusader on the Dota 2 medal ladder. The comparison above uses the same estimated thresholds as the rest of this page.
Review whether your rotations arrived in time to affect the intended action. Compare travel time, ally readiness and what you left behind. Keep the moves with a clear purpose; change those where you crossed the map because a fight was visible but arrived after the useful moment.
There is no useful rule to rotate regardless of the lane. Check whether your lane partner can stay safely, whether the destination has a reachable opportunity and whether you can contribute on arrival. Sometimes protecting your current lane is the more useful action.
