Dota 2 last-hit calculator: how it works

Current CS/min = last hits ÷ elapsed minutes. Checkpoint target = target CS/min × checkpoint minute, rounded up. Required next CS/min = remaining last hits ÷ minutes left. Targets are personal practice goals, not rank benchmarks. Chart totals are projections, not match history.

Dota 2 Last Hit Calculator: measure your farming pace

A last-hit total becomes more useful when you put a time beside it. Fifty last hits at ten minutes and fifty at twenty minutes describe very different farming speeds. This Dota 2 Last Hit Calculator turns your count into a rate, compares that rate with a goal you choose, and shows the work left before your next checkpoint. Use it for a practice session, a replay review, or a quick check after a match.

What does CS per minute mean in Dota 2?

For this calculator, CS per minute means your last hits divided by elapsed match minutes. A total of 50 last hits at minute 10 equals 5 CS per minute. Enter last hits only; do not add denies. Keep the count consistent between reviews so you are comparing the same measurement.

The result is an average across the time you enter. It does not show whether your farming was steady. You could collect most of those last hits early, then spend several minutes moving or fighting. Two players with the same average can therefore have very different matches. Use the number to identify a question worth investigating, rather than treating it as a complete performance score.

Last hits are also different from gold per minute. This tool does not assign a gold value to each last hit or estimate your net worth. If you want to plan a purchase, check the Dota 2 item list and recipe prices separately.

How to enter your Dota 2 last-hit numbers

Start with the current match minute and the last-hit count at that exact moment. Use decimal minutes for partial minutes: ten minutes and thirty seconds is 10.5, not 10.30. A zero-minute start cannot produce a meaningful average, so enter a positive elapsed time.

Next, choose a target CS per minute and a later checkpoint. The target is your own training assumption. The default of six is an editable example, not a universal requirement for a role, hero or rank. The checkpoint is a match timestamp: entering twenty means minute twenty of the match, not twenty additional minutes from now.

Press Calculate my farm after changing inputs. The result fades when your entries change so the previous answer is not mistaken for a fresh calculation. Reset restores the original example. No Steam account is required, and this calculator does not load your match history.

Dota 2 last-hit calculation: 50 CS at 10 minutes

At five CS per minute, your current pace projects to 100 last hits at minute twenty. To reach a six-CS-per-minute target of 120, you need 70 more last hits over the next ten minutes: seven per minute.

Worked example: 50 last hits, minute 10, target 6 CS/min, checkpoint minute 20
CalculationResult
Current rate: 50 ÷ 105 CS/min
Target count now: 10 × 660 last hits
Current gap: 50 − 6010 behind
Checkpoint target: 20 × 6120 last hits
Remaining: 120 − 5070 last hits
Required next rate: 70 ÷ 107 CS/min

The catch-up rate is higher than the target average because you are starting behind. Simply farming at six per minute from this point would add sixty last hits and finish at 110. The calculator separates these two rates so you can set an honest next step.

Keep the same checkpoint and target, then change your current count. This comparison shows how much the starting position affects the required rate. These are arithmetic scenarios, not recommended farming standards.

How to read your Dota 2 farming result and chart

Target pace reached compares your current count with the count your chosen rate would produce by now. In the default example, fifty divided by sixty is approximately 83.3%. This is not your accuracy at last hitting: the calculator does not know how many creeps you attempted or missed. Values above 100% mean you are ahead of your selected pace.

The thin progress bar answers a different question: how much of the final checkpoint total you already have. The paired chart bars compare the current average with the target average at now, halfway to the checkpoint, and the checkpoint itself. Both use a shared zero-based scale. The purple bars assume your existing average continues; they are not recorded future results.

A projection cannot account for a fight, death, rotation or change in available farm. Recalculate at another timestamp if the match changes. The required future rate is a planning number, not proof that enough safe farming opportunities will exist.

Compare short Dota 2 farming checkpoints fairly

For a useful comparison, record both the timestamp and the count instead of remembering only the final total. If you had fifty at minute ten and eighty at minute fifteen, that interval added thirty last hits in five minutes: six per minute. Your full-match average at minute fifteen would still be about 5.3. This explains why better recent farming can take time to move the overall average. The calculator uses the full elapsed period you enter, so keep a separate note when reviewing a particular interval.

Use the Dota 2 Last Hit Calculator for focused practice

Quelling Blade

Change one thing between attempts. Keep the hero, checkpoint and practice conditions similar, then compare your result. A more demanding setup is not automatically a worse performance.

Begin by recording a baseline rather than choosing an ambitious number immediately. Repeat the exercise and look for a realistic improvement you can practice. If your count drops, review a short stretch around the missed farm: were you too late with attacks, moving between areas, or deliberately helping your team?

Pick one correction for the next attempt. For example, focus on preparing your next attack instead of changing your hero and item build at the same time. The Dota 2 hero directory can help you keep track of the hero you are practicing. Match conditions still matter, so avoid comparing an uncontested drill directly with a difficult live lane.

For support practice, a carry-style last-hit target may not match your job. Use the Dota 2 Support Guide to review your priorities instead of chasing a number that takes resources away from your team. For rank planning, the separate MMR Calculator compares win-rate assumptions; last-hit totals do not convert directly into MMR.

Dota 2 Last Hit Calculator FAQ

What is a good last-hit count at 10 minutes in Dota 2?

There is no universal target used here. Choose a goal appropriate to your own practice conditions, then compare repeated attempts. This calculator deliberately does not label a count as a particular rank or a professional benchmark.

Does the Dota 2 Last Hit Calculator include denies?

No. Enter your last-hit count without adding denies. Mixing those counters would change the meaning of the calculated rate and make your comparisons less useful.

Can this calculator read my Dota 2 match automatically?

No. You enter the numbers yourself. It does not connect to Steam, parse a replay or measure missed last hits. The result is calculated locally from the inputs shown above.

Why does my Dota 2 checkpoint require more CS per minute than my target?

If you are behind, the remaining time must cover both normal progress and the existing gap. That raises the required future rate. Moving the checkpoint later gives more time to close the same gap.

What happens if I already reached my last-hit goal?

The remaining count and required future rate become zero. Your current rate and chart still appear. Choose a later checkpoint or a different goal when you want a new practice target.
