Keep your rating, medal and regional leaderboard position separate when checking progress.

A numbered placement belongs to a regional leaderboard. Compare positions within the same division.
Use the MMR shown in your Dota 2 client, with the date you checked it.
Look for your account in the official division and review the eligibility requirements if it is absent.
Compare MMR changes with MMR, and leaderboard positions with positions in the same region.
Official Dota 2 leaderboards ↗Eligibility and regional divisions are published by Valve. The distribution below is a separate OpenDota sample.

Immortal is the highest Dota 2 rank, above Divine. Its leaderboard numbers describe positions rather than the five-star progression used by earlier medals. A rating, an Immortal medal and a regional placement answer different questions about your account.
Immortal follows Divine, but this guide does not assign it a fixed MMR cutoff. A numbered Immortal leaderboard position cannot be converted into a universal rating target.
Use your current in-game MMR and medal as the reference for your account. The Divine table ends with an open range; extending its star pattern would create an unsupported Immortal threshold. Likewise, a Top 1,000 badge does not mean that every player holding it has the same rating.
For a personal goal, you can choose an MMR target of your own. For a leaderboard goal, choose a division and a position. Keep those goals separate instead of calling a calculated rating gap a guaranteed route to a numbered badge.
Immortal has no numbered stars. A leaderboard position describes where an eligible account appears within its regional division; a smaller position number is closer to the top.
The badge examples below show placement milestones, not additional medal families or fixed MMR brackets. An Immortal medal without a visible leaderboard number should not be read as position zero or an exact position outside the displayed list.
| Dota 2 badge | What it represents |
|---|---|
| Immortal medal | The highest medal; no numbered regional position implied. |
| Top 1,000 | A position within the regional top 1,000. |
| Top 100 | A position within the regional top 100. |
| Top 10 | A position within the regional top 10. |
| Top 1 | A position within the regional top 1. |
Valve lists separate leaderboards for the Americas, Europe, Southeast Asia and China. Check the division as well as the position when comparing accounts.
Valve lists eligibility requirements of 300 lifetime matchmade PvP games, 100 lifetime ranked games and 14 calibrated ranked games in the same division during the last 21 days. Its FAQ says the lists update hourly. Review the official page when checking eligibility, because meeting an MMR target alone does not explain whether an account appears.
Your division follows where you played the most ranked games in that recent period. If the counts tie, Valve uses the division of the more recent match. A European placement and an Americas placement are therefore positions on different lists.
Immortal represents 4.01% of the tracked sample: 341,682 profiles out of 8,530,906, retrieved on Sep 11, 2026.
OpenDota groups Immortal into a single tier in this snapshot. It does not split the count into regional Top 1,000, Top 100 or other placements. Repeating the same profile count beside every badge would misrepresent the data.
The percentage describes tracked profiles, not a census of active players. The retrieval date also does not establish when each account’s medal was observed. Use this as dated medal context, not a live leaderboard.
Divine uses five stars in the medal ladder. Immortal is the final medal and introduces the separate question of regional leaderboard placement.
The comparison below keeps Divine’s community-estimated entry rating separate from Immortal’s leaderboard system. There is no ninth medal to unlock after Immortal.
| Dota 2 rank | Estimated entry MMR | Position on the ladder |
|---|---|---|
| Divine | ~4,620 MMR | Previous medal |
| Immortal | No fixed cutoff shown | This medal |

Your MMR rises during a session, but your leaderboard position changes by a different amount. These measures use different units, so the changes do not need to match.
Write down your in-game rating, division, leaderboard position and date. Compare like with like at the next check. Do not turn a difference in positions into an MMR gain.
The MMR Calculator can compare your rating with a target you enter. Its win-rate assumptions estimate a rating climb; they cannot forecast the MMR required for a regional Top 100 placement.
Yes. Immortal is the highest medal, following Divine. Leaderboard placements rank eligible accounts within that upper level; they are not another medal family above Immortal.
No. The five-star structure belongs to Herald through Divine. Immortal badge examples represent leaderboard placement milestones instead of Immortal 1 through Immortal 5.
There is no universal conversion in this guide. Top 1,000 describes a placement in a regional list. Use the official leaderboard for positions and your Dota 2 client for your own MMR.
Check the selected region, Valve’s ranked-activity requirements and the published update schedule. The medal alone does not identify which requirement is missing. The official eligibility FAQ is the useful starting point.
