Stampede helps Void reach a Chronosphere angle, while Centaur can stun enemies near its edge.

Centaur's initiation gathers enemies for Zeus to punish with chained area damage from safer ground.

Shallow Grave can keep Centaur alive after a deep jump, buying time for his team to arrive.

Hoof Stomp can hold enemies inside Macropyre and make Ice Path follow-up easier.

Centaur creates space around Crystal Maiden so she can channel Freezing Field more safely.

Viper Strike disables Centaur's passives, while poison slows can stop him from reaching a stomp.

Corrosive Haze lowers Centaur's armor and reveals him, making front-line commits much riskier.

Mana Break drains the mana Centaur needs for Stampede, and Blink avoids a slow approach.

Meat Hook can pull Centaur away from allies, and Dismember interrupts his attempted follow-up.

Centaur Warrunner is a durable offlaner who starts fights, absorbs pressure, and accelerates allies.
Centaur Warrunner is a melee Strength hero. Our recommended role is offlane.
Centaur Warrunner is an offlaner who converts strength, durability, and close-range control into space for his team. He wants to stand where enemies must react, then use a well-timed Blink Dagger and Hoof Stomp to begin a favorable, crowded fight.
In lane, secure difficult last hits with Quelling Blade and trade only when nearby attackers will trigger Retaliate. Double Edge damages Centaur too, so use it to finish a target or punish an overextension, then restore health before the next enemy spell rotation. Horsepower already converts Strength into movement speed, so do not buy boots assuming both passive speed bonuses add together.
Approach fights from fog or behind a durable ally, Blink beside priority targets, and cast Hoof Stomp before they can separate. Use Stampede when teammates need to enter, escape, or trample through a retreating formation; each enemy is trampled only once.
Blink Dagger is the central purchase because Centaur needs immediate access to melee control. Add defensive items for the damage type that stops your entry, rather than collecting damage items. Aghanim's Scepter is optional and only matters when coordinated Work Horse repositioning is valuable.

Cast Hoof Stomp as an enemy commits toward you, then keep moving during its windup to preserve your position. This lets Centaur meet a retreating target at the stun location instead of standing still and leaving allies behind.

Use Double Edge when its target and nearby enemies will take meaningful damage, especially after Hoof Stomp. Centaur cannot die from his own Double Edge, but enemy damage can still finish him, so avoid casting it into concentrated retaliation.

Use Stampede across the enemy formation rather than simply toward it when allies can follow. The movement lets teammates pass through units, and trampling applies a strength-based hit and slow, but each enemy can only be trampled once. Unit phasing is not free movement through cliffs or trees; choose a usable route.
| Detail | What it means in your game |
|---|---|
| Hoof Stomp | After a brief windup, damage and stun nearby enemies. Centaur can move during the windup but cannot attack. |
| Double Edge | Damage a target and nearby enemies while also damaging Centaur. Adds Strength-based damage and cannot kill Centaur through its own self-damage. |
| Retaliate | Return damage when an attack hits Centaur, with additional damage based on Strength. Towers take reduced return damage. |
Centaur Warrunner usually plays offlane because he needs early levels and farm for Blink Dagger, then creates space as a durable initiator. He can also protect vulnerable allies by standing ahead of them and using Stampede to disengage.
Start with efficient strength, regeneration, and Quelling Blade, then prioritize Blink Dagger. Buy Pipe of Insight against magical burst, Crimson Guard against repeated physical attacks, Lotus Orb against dangerous targeted spells, and Black King Bar when disables repeatedly stop your initiation.
Keep lane trades short and purposeful. Let Retaliate punish attacks, use Double Edge only when you gain more than the health spent, and save Hoof Stomp for a clear kill attempt or escape. Blink from fog instead of showing first.
Stampede gives every ally a fast charge that passes through units and slows enemies they trample. Cast it to start a coordinated chase, rescue teammates from danger, or cross an enemy line. Each enemy can be trampled once, so route carefully.
