Corrosive Haze lowers armor for Luna's attacks, while Crush can hold enemies near her damage.

Slardar's stun and armor reduction let Ursa stay on a target and exploit rapid attacks.

Vengeful Spirit can swap a target into Slardar's initiation range and add more physical damage.

Corrosive Haze complements Shadow Fiend's physical attacks after Slardar creates a close-range opening.

Crush keeps enemies in Crystal Maiden's dangerous area while her mana aura supports repeated spells.

Viper Strike disables Slardar's passives and its slowing poison makes reaching attack range much harder.

Counterspell can block and reflect targeted Corrosive Haze, while Blink escapes a committed initiation.

Queen of Pain can Blink away after Crush and repeatedly harass Slardar with Shadow Strike.

Meat Hook can pull Slardar away from his allies, and Dismember stops his attack-based follow-up.

Ursa threatens long melee duels with Fury Swipes and can meet incoming damage with Enrage before being disabled.

Slardar is a relentless offlaner who exposes targets and starts physical damage fights.
Slardar is a melee Strength hero. Our recommended role is offlane.
Slardar is an offlane initiator who turns a visible enemy into an easy physical target. Guardian Sprint reaches fights quickly, Slithereen Crush creates an opening, and Corrosive Haze supplies vision and armor reduction. He excels when allies can immediately attack whoever he marks.
Start with regeneration and cheap Strength, then use Quelling Blade to protect difficult last hits. Trade only when Crush can secure space or a support can follow. Guardian Sprint helps reposition through creeps, but retreat before repeated ranged harassment drains your resources and experience.
Approach from fog or an unexpected angle, then Blink beside a priority enemy and cast Slithereen Crush. Apply Corrosive Haze before your team commits physical damage. Keep attacking after the stun because Bash of the Deep rewards staying in range rather than immediately retreating.
Blink Dagger is the central purchase because it converts Slardar's close-range stun into a real initiation threat. Buy Black King Bar when disables stop your entries. Choose aura items for team survival, or damage items only when allies already provide dependable frontline and control.

Use Guardian Sprint to pass through a crowded creep wave before committing to a Crush angle. The movement lets Slardar reach a backline target without wasting time walking around blockers, while its slow resistance helps him maintain the approach.

Cast Slithereen Crush where opponents must stand to fight rather than merely where they are standing. The stun begins the exchange, and the puddle supports Seaborn Sentinel while you remain nearby to deliver attacks and threaten the next Bash.

Use Corrosive Haze on an elusive target before allies spend important damage spells. Its vision and True Sight reveal the target through invisibility, and the water trail helps your team follow a retreating enemy through trees or fog.
| Detail | What it means in your game |
|---|---|
| Guardian Sprint | Increases movement speed and lets Slardar pass through units. Initially grants full slow resistance, which later fades. |
| Slithereen Crush | Damages and stuns nearby enemies, leaves a water puddle and applies a slow after the stun. |
| Bash of the Deep | After a sequence of attacks, the next attack stuns and deals bonus damage. |
Slardar usually plays offlane because he can contest melee creeps, threaten a close-range stun, and later initiate. He needs teammates who can quickly follow Corrosive Haze, since his strongest contribution is making one enemy vulnerable to focused physical damage.
Blink Dagger is the usual first major item because Slithereen Crush has short reach without it. Black King Bar follows when opponents can interrupt the entry. Pipe, Crimson Guard, Lotus Orb, or Assault Cuirass depend on the damage and disable threats.
Begin by protecting last hits, keeping regeneration available, and saving Crush for meaningful trades. Do not chase alone just because Guardian Sprint is ready. Wait for an ally, move through creep blockers, stun the target, then attack while the enemy is slowed.
Corrosive Haze targets an enemy, lowers their armor, and grants vision plus True Sight on them. Cast it on a target your team can attack immediately, especially one trying to escape invisibly. It does not replace positioning, stun timing, or allied follow-up.
