Ursa is a relentless carry who turns sustained melee contact into escalating physical damage.
Ursa is a melee Agility hero. Our recommended role is carry.
Ursa is a carry built to punish anyone forced into sustained melee combat. Consecutive attacks add Fury Swipes damage, so choose one reachable victim and stay there. He excels around Roshan and narrow fights, but struggles when several enemies can disengage or disable him.
In lane, secure last hits with Quelling Blade and keep enough regeneration to contest dangerous creeps. Earthshock can slow an opponent after they step forward, but do not leap blindly. Use Overpower when attacks are likely to connect, because misses still spend its charges.
Enter after a teammate reveals important control or an enemy uses an escape. Blink onto a vulnerable target, Earthshock to slow the retreat, then commit Overpower attacks. Use Enrage against slows or incoming burst before a disabling chain; casting it while disabled requires the Scepter upgrade.
Battle Fury suits games where Ursa needs lane clearing before joining fights, while Echo Sabre favors earlier pickoffs. Blink solves his access problem, and Black King Bar protects a full commitment. Buy Abyssal Blade against elusive cores. Consider Aghanim's Scepter separately when casting Enrage while disabled is essential.

Wait until a target uses its movement spell, then Earthshock forward to slow the retreat. This makes the leap a commitment with a clear purpose instead of an easy opportunity for enemies to reverse the fight.

Activate Overpower when standing close enough to attack without interruption. Missing still consumes a charge, so avoid using it before a target is controlled or while terrain and fog can break your attack path.

Use Enrage to remove a slow or to meet an incoming burst, before a stun prevents the cast. Its strong dispel, damage reduction and status resistance help against the response. Only the Scepter upgrade allows activation while disabled.
| Detail | What it means in your game |
|---|---|
| Earthshock | Leaps a short distance, then damages and slows nearby enemies. |
| Overpower | Grants high attack speed and slow resistance for a limited number of attacks. |
| Fury Swipes | Repeated attacks on the same target add stacking damage. The stacks expire if Ursa stops attacking it for too long. |
Ursa is usually played as a carry because he needs farm and levels to turn his short-range damage into a reliable threat. He can fight early, but his main job is taking safe farm, Roshan space, and isolated targets.
Start with efficient attributes, Quelling Blade, and regeneration. Choose Battle Fury for farm or Echo Sabre for early conflict, then prioritize Blink and Black King Bar when access and spell protection decide whether Ursa can attack.
Pick one target before committing, then use Earthshock to prevent that hero from leaving. Do not chase across the map after Fury Swipes expires. Farm nearby objectives instead, and save Enrage for enemy control or burst rather than routine damage.
Enrage strongly dispels existing debuffs and grants damage reduction plus status resistance, making it Ursa's answer to a counterattack. It does not make him permanently safe, so wait for danger before using it. Aghanim's Scepter can later allow use while disabled.
