These are our editorial build paths. Labels describe their purpose, not measured popularity or win rate. Click an item for its use. Each stage is an inventory snapshot: keep earlier items, use consumables, upgrade components, and replace small items as space runs out. Boots, defenses, and late slots can change with the draft.

Our picks, based on how the spells work together.

Vengeful Spirit adds damage through her aura and can swap Luna away from a dangerous initiation.

Crystal Maiden's mana regeneration supports repeated Lucent Beams while her disables hold nearby Eclipse targets.

Warlock can bind and slow clustered enemies, making Luna's area damage and Eclipse much harder to escape.

Slardar's armor reduction amplifies Luna's physical attacks and his stun helps keep prey within attack range.

Earthshaker's clustered stuns create a safe opening for Luna to attack and use Eclipse nearby.

Axe can taunt Luna into attacking his armored body, then threaten an execution once her health falls.

Pudge can hook Luna from her backline and Dismember prevents her from repositioning or attacking.

Slardar closes quickly, stuns Luna, and reduces her armor, making physical focus exceptionally dangerous.

Viper Strike disables Luna's passives while its poison slows her movement and attack speed during fights.

Queen of Pain can Blink past Luna's frontline, apply sustained damage, and escape retaliation quickly.
These are useful ability interactions, not a statistical ranking or guaranteed matchups. Positioning, items, and cooldowns change the result. Hero links open a full guide when available, otherwise the directory.

Luna is a swift carry who turns disciplined farming into punishing moonlit fights.
Luna is a ranged Agility hero. Our recommended role is carry.
Luna is a carry who converts quick wave clears into strong item timing and ranged physical pressure. Moon Glaives lets ordinary attacks spread through nearby units, while Lunar Blessing rewards allies who fight near her. She thrives when teammates create a protected attack lane.
In lane, prioritize secure last hits over risky beam casts, because Luna needs early attributes and regeneration more than a flashy kill attempt. Use Lucent Beam when a support has already controlled an enemy or when its brief stun prevents a decisive trade. Keep creeps near safety.
Enter fights after the opening disables reveal their targets, then attack from the outer edge while glaives spread damage. Cast Eclipse when enemy heroes are nearby and creeps are scarce. Remember that its beams do not stun, ignore invisible units, and stop when Luna dies.
Start with efficient attributes and regeneration, then choose Power Treads for attack speed and flexible attributes. Manta Style is the usual core for agility, wave pressure, and a dispel. Buy Black King Bar when disables stop your attacks; choose range, evasion answers, or durability afterward.

Use Lucent Beam after an ally begins a stun or root rather than throwing it at a target who can simply retreat. The brief disable helps chain control, buys attacks, and can stop an enemy from escaping your Eclipse area.

Position so Moon Glaives bounce through the whole wave while Luna stays away from likely initiators. This clears lanes without exposing her body, but avoid relying on the bounces to apply item effects because glaives only carry critical strikes.

Wait until enemy heroes are close and nearby creeps have been cleared or moved away before casting Eclipse. The random beams are strongest when fewer units compete for them, but they provide no stun and cannot strike invisible enemies.
| Detail | What it means in your game |
|---|---|
| Lucent Beam | Damages and briefly stuns a targeted enemy. |
| Lunar Orbit | Creates glaives that rotate around Luna and damage enemies they hit, based on her attack damage. |
| Moon Glaives | Attacks bounce between nearby enemy units, losing damage with each bounce. |
Luna is usually played as a carry. She needs protected farm to buy attack items, then uses Moon Glaives to clear waves, pressure objectives, and contribute broad physical damage while standing behind sturdier teammates.
Power Treads and Manta Style are a practical foundation because they give Luna attributes, attack speed, safe farming, and a dispel. Black King Bar becomes important when enemy disables prevent her from attacking through a fight.
Focus on safe last hits, use Lucent Beam to support an allied setup, and farm waves from safe angles with Moon Glaives. Do not walk into the center of fights for Eclipse; Luna deals more when she can keep attacking.
Eclipse sends Lucent Beam strikes at random nearby enemies and briefly turns day into night. It requires points in Lucent Beam, does not stun, has a limit per target, misses invisible units, and ends immediately if Luna dies.
