Drow Ranger is a ranged carry who rewards careful spacing with slows, silence and powerful physical attacks.
Drow Ranger is a ranged Agility hero. Our recommended role is carry.
Drow Ranger is a Carry built around attacking from a protected distance. Frost Arrows discourage chases, while Marksmanship ignores base armor on its special attacks. Choose her when allies can hold a frontline. If enemies reach her nearby, she loses that ultimate benefit and becomes far easier to overwhelm.
In lane, use Frost Arrows to punish an opponent walking for a last hit, then return attention to creep control. Reapply the slow before it expires when a chase is safe. Do not chase through unknown ground. A secured wave is worth more than exposing Drow to a rotation.
Start fights behind allies and identify the hero most likely to enter Marksmanship disabling range. Use Gust to push that threat away, then attack the target your team controls. Multishot is valuable through narrow paths or retreating enemies, but channeling carelessly can leave Drow unable to change position.
Prioritize attack range and a defensive answer before chasing pure damage. Hurricane Pike helps create separation after an initiation, while Black King Bar protects an important attacking window against disabling spells. Choose damage items afterward based on armor, evasive targets, and whether fights allow Drow to stand still and fire.

Use Frost Arrows on a fleeing hero only while Drow can keep a safe firing angle. Each successive cast refreshes the slow duration, so an early arrow can stop an escape. Do not step into close range merely to refresh it, because losing Marksmanship costs more than one extra hit.

Cast Gust toward an enemy who has crossed the frontline rather than saving it for a perfect group. The knockback is stronger when they are closer, and the silence can stop a follow up escape or spell. It also reveals invisible units, making it useful when a target disappears nearby.

Use Multishot across a ramp, treeline opening, or retreat route where enemies must remain in the arrow path. Drow may move slowly and use items during the channel, so adjust away from danger. Its base arrow damage pierces magic immunity, but Frost Arrows do not apply their damage or slow there.
| Detail | What it means in your game |
|---|---|
| Frost Arrows | Adds a freezing effect to Drow's attacks, slowing enemy movement and dealing bonus damage. |
| Gust | Pushes enemies away, silences them and reveals affected invisible units. |
| Multishot | Channels volleys of arrows that deal attack-based damage and apply Frost Arrows. Drow can move slowly and use items during the channel. |
Drow Ranger is usually played as a Carry. She needs farm and protected space because her strongest physical attacks depend on staying away from enemy heroes. A team with stuns, saves, or durable frontliners lets her focus on ranged targets instead of spending every fight running away.
Start with lane regeneration and inexpensive attributes, then consider Power Treads and range through Dragon Lance or Hurricane Pike. Buy Black King Bar when enemy disables stop Drow from attacking. Add physical damage afterward, choosing armor reduction, attack speed, or durability according to the opposing lineup and the available protection.
Begin by practicing safe last hits and watching the distance to nearby enemy heroes. Use Frost Arrows for deliberate trades instead of draining resources on every creep. Save Gust for a diver or escape route. In fights, stand behind allies and move first when an enemy begins approaching.
Marksmanship gives Drow a chance to fire special arrows that ignore the target's base armor and have true strike. It is strongest when she can continuously attack from distance. The ability is disabled when an enemy hero is nearby, so Gust, Hurricane Pike, allies, and good terrain are tools for restoring its value.
