Dota 2 Rank Percentile Checker: where does your medal stand?
Your medal tells you which Dota 2 rank you have. A percentile adds another perspective: how that rank compares with the profiles included in a distribution. Select your medal and stars above to see the share below you, the share in your exact bracket, and the share at your rank or higher. This free checker uses a saved OpenDota snapshot, so the answer is reproducible and the source date stays visible.
What does a Dota 2 rank percentile mean?
The percentage below your rank is the share of sampled profiles with a lower medal-and-star bracket. It excludes everyone in your own bracket. A result of 70% below would mean seventy out of every hundred profiles in that sample sit in lower brackets. That is an illustrative explanation, not a claim about a particular medal.
Ranks group many profiles together. Two players with the same medal and stars therefore receive the same answer here, even if their exact MMR differs. The tool does not invent a position between those players. It also does not measure mechanical skill, hero mastery, recent form or the likelihood of winning your next match.
Dota 2 percentile versus top percentage
The top share uses the opposite direction and includes your own bracket. If 70% are below, the remaining 30% are at your rank or higher. This is why the two headline values add to 100%. The strictly higher share is smaller because it excludes your bracket. Keeping those definitions separate prevents an apparently impressive number from hiding how ties are handled.
Dota 2 Legend 4 percentile: a worked example
In the Sep 11, 2026 snapshot, 74.35% of tracked ranked profiles are below Legend 4. Legend 4 or higher accounts for 25.65% of the sample. These values come from rank counts, not from a guessed MMR-to-percentile curve.

The calculation adds the counts for every lower bracket, divides that sum by the full sample, and multiplies by one hundred. The same-rank value divides the selected bracket count by that denominator. The remainder is above. Displayed percentages are rounded to two decimal places, so a displayed three-part total can differ slightly from exactly one hundred.
Dota 2 rank percentile table: Herald to Immortal
This table includes every medal-and-star bin in the snapshot. Read each row as a comparison within the same population and date. The bracket share tells you how common that exact rank is; the below column tells you how far along the ordered distribution it sits. A large bracket share does not automatically mean a high percentile.

Immortal appears once because this dataset groups those profiles into one bin. A regional leaderboard position is a different measurement. This checker cannot distinguish an unnumbered Immortal from a particular leaderboard placement, and it does not turn leaderboard milestones into additional percentile rows.
How to read the Dota 2 rank distribution chart
The horizontal chart combines stars into eight medal families. Each bar shows that family's share of the sample, with an exact percentage beside it. All bars start at zero and use the same scale. The selected family turns green, while the remaining families stay purple. A longer bar means more profiles in that family, not a stronger medal.
The thin segmented strip above the chart answers a different question. It separates profiles below your selected bracket, in the same bracket, and above it. Its total represents the whole sample. Changing from Legend 1 to Legend 5 moves those segments, while the overall Legend family bar remains unchanged: both selections belong to the same family.
Use the numeric labels when comparing small differences. Visual length is helpful for broad patterns, but it is less reliable for close values. On a small screen, the table can scroll horizontally inside its container without forcing the entire page sideways.
How accurate is this Dota 2 rank percentile checker?
The arithmetic is exact for the stored counts; the coverage is limited to the source sample. This is not a census of everyone who plays Dota 2. Do not read the result as a verified percentage of every active player worldwide or of the opponents in your particular region.
Dota 2 sample date matters
The calculator uses the snapshot shown beside the result. It does not silently replace that snapshot with live numbers when you change a medal. Another website, another observation date or a different population can produce different percentages without either calculation being mathematically wrong.
The available counts do not provide a region filter, role filter or recent-activity window. Those controls are deliberately absent. The tool also cannot identify which profiles belong to the same person. Comparisons should therefore use the word profiles rather than assuming every row represents a unique, recently active individual.
Comparing two Dota 2 percentile results fairly
Before comparing screenshots, check that both use the same date, denominator and definition. One result may count profiles strictly below a bracket, while another includes that bracket in its cumulative percentage. Those answers describe different boundaries. Compare the counts and labels before concluding that your relative position has changed.
A later snapshot can change your percentile even when your medal stays the same. That movement describes the distribution around your bracket; it does not prove that you gained or lost MMR. Likewise, an increase in sampled profiles is not automatically an increase in active ranked players. Keep the original date beside any result you save or share.
For a personal progress log, record your actual medal separately from the sample percentile. That gives you two useful measurements without confusing an individual rank change with a change in the source population.
Use your Dota 2 percentile to plan a realistic next goal
Start with the medal currently displayed in your client. Choose that bracket, note the result and its date, then compare the next star or medal. This shows how the sample is distributed between two rank goals. The difference is measured in percentage points, not in games you must win.

Dota 2 rank percentile questions
Does this Dota 2 percentile tool need my Steam account?
No. Choose a medal manually. The calculation runs in your browser using the same stored distribution for everyone. It does not request your Steam profile, read your match history or verify the rank you select.
Can I enter exact Dota 2 MMR for a more precise percentile?
No. The source groups profiles by medal and stars, not by each MMR point. An exact MMR input would imply precision this dataset cannot support. Players inside one bracket receive the same result.
Why is the lowest Dota 2 rank shown with zero percent below?
Herald 1 is the lowest included bracket, so there are no lower bins to count. Zero below does not mean nobody has that rank. Its own profile count is included in the same-rank share.
Does Immortal mean the 100th percentile in Dota 2?
No. Immortal profiles occupy a shared top bracket here. There are no higher bins, but other profiles remain in that same bracket. The tool cannot assign an exact ordering within Immortal.
